Website reviews terms
Version 2026-10-22.1
These terms apply when you use RatingsPlus Website reviews to collect and publish reviews for a website you sell from. They are between you (the merchant, or the business you act for) and Budd and Todd Ltd (company number 13766118), trading as RatingsPlus, whose registered office is 338 Hessle Road, Hull, England, HU3 3SB. They sit alongside the processor terms, the review policy and the explanation of our review labels, which you accept together.
1. What the service does
You connect a website (a "Direct connection"). You tell us about orders — by copying us into your order emails (BCC), entering them by hand or uploading a spreadsheet — and we email each buyer an invitation to review you. Reviews are published on your public RatingsPlus profile and can be shown on your website with our widget.
2. Proving you control the website
-
Before a connection can take orders or send invitations, you must prove you control its domain, by one of: a
DNS TXT record at
_ratingsplus.<your domain>, a meta tag on your homepage, or confirming a link we email to an address at that domain. - A root domain can have only one live connection. If someone else has already connected it, we record your attempt for our staff to look at; we do not hand the domain over automatically.
- We re-check verification every 30 days. If it stops holding we email you, and after 14 days' grace invitations pause until you verify again. Reviews already published are never deleted because verification lapsed.
3. Your promises about orders
- You will only tell us about real orders placed with you, and only give us the buyer's details for that purpose.
- You will tell your customers, in your own privacy notice, that you share their order details with a review service so they can be asked for a review.
- You will not select which customers to invite based on whether you expect a good or a bad review, offer anything in return for a review, or write, buy or commission reviews of your own business or a competitor's. Doing so is prohibited by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, and we may suspend your connection if we see it.
4. What you cannot do with reviews
- Every review is held for 72 hours after it is written and then publishes on its own. You can see it during that time and reply to it, but you cannot stop or delete it.
- You can flag a review for one of a fixed list of reasons. A flag inside the hold window pauses publication until our staff decide; after publication, a flag opens a case and the review stays up meanwhile. The review policy lists the reasons and what happens next.
- Reviews are labelled Invited or Verified order according to how the order reached us. You cannot change a label.
5. Plans and prices
- The free plan includes 100 review invitations a month. Orders you add by hand or by spreadsheet are also limited to 50 a day per website on the free plan (500 on the paid plan); orders over the daily limit wait for the next day rather than being lost. BCC orders do not count towards the daily limit.
- The paid plan lifts the monthly invitation limit. Its founding price is £19.00 a month or £190.00 a year (US$24.00 / US$240.00), billed by Stripe, with no trial. You can cancel from the Billing page at any time; the paid plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. A subscription keeps the price it started on: a later price rise applies to new subscriptions only.
- Collecting and publishing reviews is never conditional on paying, and paying never changes how a review is held, labelled or decided.
6. Ending the connection
You can disconnect a website at any time from your dashboard. Invitations stop at once. Reviews that are already published stay on your public profile, because they belong to the people who wrote them as much as to you; the reviewers can still withdraw them.
7. Our responsibilities
- We send invitations only to people you tell us bought from you, and never to an address that has opted out of review requests from RatingsPlus — an opt-out covers every store and our directory.
- We publish reviews honestly: we do not suppress, reorder or edit reviews to favour you or anyone else.
- We will tell you before we change these terms in a way that affects you. A change to what you agree to comes with a new version, and the Website reviews tools in your dashboard stay paused until you accept it.
8. Liability and law
8.1 Limits
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, neither of us is liable to the other for lost profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss. Each party's total liability arising from these terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees paid or payable by you for Website reviews in that period.
8.2 Your responsibility for order data
You will reimburse us for reasonable losses, liabilities and costs arising from a third-party claim that your order data, instructions or use of Website reviews breached these terms or applicable law, except to the extent the claim was caused by our breach of these terms or our unlawful processing.
8.3 Law and courts
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives you a different right.
